Lime wash is a classic style of floor finish that never does out of fashion.
Lime wash is based on chalk and calcium hydroxide. Wooden floors with lime wash have a pleasant organic feel, with the grain strongly highlighted. The wash itself has a nice matt chalky finish that lightens the floor and surrounding room.
A Lime washed floor can have an old rustic look, or a modern clean, slick appearance. It depends on the décor of the room. Furniture and walls with plain colours combine well with a lime wash to give a smooth, open look to a room.
Floor Sanding and Polishing
Before applying lime wash a floor should be sanded, or at least have its previous finish stripped back. Re-sanding allows a floor to be restored to a virtual new state, and then re-finished in a completely new style.
Floor Sanding Sydney
Solid wood floors last for decades. And any surface wear can be removed with floor sanding. If you want a new look for your floors, just to restore them to their original appearance, consider floor sanding and re-finishing.
