Dark Staining after Floor Sanding Sydney

A re-sanded floor can be stained to be darker, or be given a transparent coating to maintain its natural colour. Recent fashion trends have favoured darker floors. These prove to be quite versatile. A dark floor looks warm and sophisticated and can work as part of a modern minimalist look (think IKEA) or as a part of a classic Victorian look.

Of course, the trick with any room décor is finding the matching elements. What do we put with a rich, dark floor in order to create a great-looking room?

Elements of the room:

  • Wall colour – This includes painted walls and perhaps some tiling.
  • Furniture – we can add or remove this as required.
  • Mirrors and windows – For light and space.
  • Wall decorations – painting and posters.
  • Woodwork (cabinets, stairways, shelves, windowsills, and doors)
  • Lighting – change the bulbs for a different tonal effect.

Lighting and wall decorations are easy to change. After this, repainting the walls is one of the more moderately easy and inexpensive alterations for a room. We should choose the new wall colours to match the dark timber floor.

Wall Colours for Dark Floors

  • Neutral colours such as white, crème or beige look clean, bright and make a room feel larger. They are also a good background for almost and decoration, as they rarely clash.
  • Pale Green or Blue. These feel calm, and organic, and balance the dark heavy tone of the timber floor.
  • Light Grey – This looks sophisticated and combines well with metallic furnishings.
  • Pale Pink and Purple – This will be feminine, soft, and dreamy.
  • Light Yellow or Orange – These are sunny, energetic, and warm.
  • A dark accent wall can be effective if the other walls are sufficiently light.

Light-coloured wood, like pine, can make a good contrast against the dark timber floor.

Floor Sanding Sydney

Re-sanding will make an older timber floor look like new. Have the floor re-stained with a new tint for a different look.
